Dean has worked on many cases where a commercial enterprise or high net worth individual is under threat of serious and imminent harm. He is often asked to take the lead in managing a client’s crisis or public image.
Problems of this complexity and severity have one thing in common: the client’s strategic assets, relationships or markets are under attack by a government, the media or a competitor.
A strategic problem necessitates a strategic response. A plan to protect the client’s vital interests must be developed and implemented on an emergency basis. This process not only demands close consultation with talented executives in the commercial enterprise; it also requires intense interaction with outside specialists that have expertise in business law, government relations, public relations, regulatory compliance, reputation management and crisis management.
When the crisis is primarily rooted in a foreign jurisdiction, it must be managed on location and on the ground- not at head office. When the crisis has local and international ramifications, it must be managed on a multi-lateral basis- in every jurisdiction where the problem arises.
